What a GREAT Summer so far! Just returned from the Dennery Hot
Rod Bash, and what a Fantastic time it was. I don’t think Dawn and John realize
what a great job they do at hosting such an event! Super Steve was there spinning
the discs for our listening enjoyment with his air conditioned 58 Impala. The
Live Band was nothing less than spectacular, playing all of our favorite 60s
tunes. Great food, a nice cool pool to swim in, and a wonderful collection of
Chevys in the backyard- What more could you ask for? Simply over the top, a
HUGE thank-You goes out to the Dennery Clan for sponsoring this event. Like
they say-Be there, or be square!
Summer is almost half over-so get your Chevy out
and enjoy this cruising weather now! Dawn and I
had some discussion regarding a Drive-In Movie
cruise for our club to be held in late August, if you
have an interest in such an event please me so we
can form a date. It would probably be held at
Shankweiler’s Drive-in on Rt309 in Pennsylvania.
Please call me soon so we know if there is enough
interest to proceed the planning.
I will be attending Das Awchtfest on August 2nd in
Macungie Park, hope some other club members
will be able to attend as well. The park is such a
nice setting, featuring a Swap Meet, Car Show, and
some Pennsylvania Dutch food specialties.
Another popular event will be the annual mecca to
Detroit for the Woodward avenue car cruise. If
you are interested, please contact trip coordinator
Jim Brussel for further details. We will be rallying
up at Johnny’s Hot Dogs on Rt 46 in scenic
Buttzville, New Jersey at 6 am sharp on August
15th. If you are interested, please contact Jim soon
to finalize Hotel reservations.
I would be remiss in my duties if I didn’t share the
fact of our own club member Mike Berry, and his
trip to Spearfish South Dakota this past week.
Mike did a solo run cross country in his Awesome
60 Convertible, braving the summer heat and
seeing the sites of roadside America along the
way. More to follow regarding this fantastic saga.
That about wraps it up for now, but one question
to you before I go-What fun have you had with
your Chevy this summer?
