PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
As I sit at my desk and think of what to write this month I looked
up at the calendar and realized by the time you read this message its the last
month of the year. So I must say this year has went faster than any year I could
remember. Maybe it is because of the summer barbecues with no meeting but the
one-year being president surely flew by way to fast.
I hope everyone enjoyed
the Thanksgiving Holiday! Now its time to get out there and shop for Christmas.
You know, help the economy, go out and maybe buy a new Chevrolet. Help save
General Motors! At least the gas prices are going down. Here it is the nineteenth
of November and the price is down to $1.71 in my town anyway and they pro-ject
it to go down to a dollar fifty a gallon! So don’t put your classic cars away
yet, winterize them and go fill up the tank.
Leigh has been busy in his new
garage. He is wiring more electric around the building, hooking up some neon
lights just to see how it will look. One day I heard this loud indescribable
noise, so I ran out of the house to ask what that was, he had hooked up the
new air compressor and tried it out. It surprised him! So the next step is to
insulate and put walls up. He has been shopping around for a lift. I know he
is looking forward to his seven days off.
We were able to get a little more
of the 2009 calendar done at the November meeting. June, July and August had
been undecided and are now agreed on. We will have to wait on the date to be
approved for the Picnic in May. So keep your eyes on the dates of upcoming events
we have planned for you.
Dawn Dennery may be looking into another location for
the Annual Banquet. Eckler’s has announced their 35th Annual International,
to be held in Arlington, IL. July 15th - 19th, 2009. The 17th Winter 2009 National
to be held in February 5th-8th in Old Town/Kissimmee, Fl. Chevy Classics magazine
will no longer include the registration forms for the shows in the magazine
(promotional page only). We will include the event registrations in the newsletter
and on the calendar of events and on our website.
Mike Berry, elections officer,
held the last round of nominations in November. You can see more information
enclosed this newsletter. I think we will have a very interesting and good year
next year. Especially if the Wheel and Cap Guide comes through for us. Leigh
has been working diligently to date on this project. I might say a little obsessed.
The more he digs into it the more interesting he finds it. Leigh has volunteered
to be chairman of the Wheel and Cap Guide with a committee under him including
Tom Merring, Verne Frantz, Mike Berry and Dawn Dennery.
Don’t forget to come
to the next meeting. Its Election Day! We will be having a Christmas get together.
Please remember to bring a covered dish! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year!
