Febuary 2016
President’s Message
By the time you receive this newsletter, we would have probably
had our first snow storm of the year. We really can’t complain. The winter so
far has been very mild. Spring can’t be very far away, so start dusting off
those Classic Chevy’s. As I enter my second month of tenure, I am starting to
get a feel for the direction I would like to see the club go in. Below are a
few items that the board will be addressing:
1. New Members – our membership is down from a year ago, so I would like all
of us to bring in new members. The club has decided to initiate a New Member
Contest. Please see the details of the contest on page four of this newsletter.
Mark already signed a new member. By the end of the last meeting, Mark Montesano
joined. We have plenty of membership brochures available for your recruitment
efforts. We are also looking into providing signs for each member’s car.
2. Tech Sessions – In the past, the Tech Session meetings have always been well
attended, so I am looking to have a Tech Session at every meeting. Tom Merring’s
session on “Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Air Conditioning” had some
great slides and props which made for an excellent presentation, even though
Tom was a little under the weather. Joe DiNoia will be conduction a session
on generators at the February 7th meeting. Check this newsletter for the new
time and location. Let me know if you would like to do a session for a future
meeting.
3. Club Events – At the December meeting it was quite evident that the members
wanted more events. I’ve asked Mike Berry to be the events chairperson, so if
you have any ideas, please let Mike know.
4. What Cha Working On Column – This column has been empty for months. When
I was Vice President, it was difficult to get articles for this. Everyone is
working on something, and it doesn’t have to be car related. It could be a shed,
a man-cave, or whatever. Just send you article to Rob Kane.
5. Member Profiles – Let’s get to know each other by more than our cars. Each
month I would like to see a member profile. Who is willing to be the first?
Please Note - change of date and time: February 7, 2016 (We had to change the
JLG meeting due to a conflict with Saint Valentine’s Day which is February 14th).
We had a problem securing the community center for Feb. 7th, so our meeting
will be at the:
Dayton Diner (formerly Jersey Diner), 2316 US 130, Dayton, NJ 08810 (732) 329-0011.
The meeting will start at 11:00 AM followed by lunch and Joe DiNoia’s tech session
on “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Generators”.
