PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
I would like to thank all the members that voted for me as
your two thousand and eight President. I well do my very best to serve you,
the members of Jersey Late Greats. I am looking forward to meeting members who
don’t get out to our club events and working with the new board to make Jersey
Late Greats a great car club. So do something new for yourself this year and
come out and join us. Coffee’s hot and there’s always something good to snack
on! If you’re that night owl and not ready to go home yet, we usually go for
a cruise to Mastori’s Restaurant for dinner, and if we’re not that hungry there
are other nice choices.
The Holidays are almost over and I hope Santa brought you all that you have
wished for, and now I would like to wish you and your family a wonderful New
Year.
I would also like to thank John Lucus for his time as President. John did a
fantastic job. John will be wearing a different hat now. He is our newsletter
editor and publisher. This now gives Mike Berry a long awaited break. Mike has
held this position for the past eleven years and eight months. John now has
big shoes to fill because Mike holds the title for us as newsletter award winner
not one but two years in a row! So lets help make John’s new job a little easier
by submitting your newsletter information to him in amble time.
The year 2008 is going to be another exciting year for our club. John has worked
out most of our 2008 schedule with the fall to be determined. Lou has offered
a trip to the Poconos along with other ideas that are on the table. The junkyard
run has always been the favorite for our members. Mike Berry and Lou DiPieto
have done another outstanding job once again this year by finding yet another
new yard for us to find the parts we are looking for. Verne may be able to find
more Late Greats to add to the Jersey Late Greats documentation database.
The Awards Dinner is scheduled for February. You’re in for a treat this year.
A new location was decided on in South Jersey, the Adelphia Restaurant in Deptford.
The food is very tasty but not only that, the awards done by John Dennery are
phenomenal. You’ll laugh so hard your face will hurt! Dawn Dennery will be mailing
out your banquet information so please respond quickly so she can plan out a
nice dinner for us this year.
Our 2008 club picnic in May, is a must attend event for you and your family.
In 2007 we invited other clubs from the Delaware Valley and it was a success.
We will be doing this again. I would like to see Verne orchestrate the old time
games we so enjoyed in the past.
We will be starting the New Year finishing our 2008 budget. We will also be
looking at any cost savings items with a possibility of lowering our membership
dues.
