President’s Message
Last month on May 22nd, our Sergeant- At-Arms, Al Bernotas,
coordinated a Jersey Late Greats display with Burlington Chevrolet’s manager
John Broderick. Al has coordinated this event a few times in the past and the
manager keeps asking us back. We must be doing something right. The display
might be generating a sale or two for Chevrolet. They could definitely use it.
The dealer-ship setup the barbeque, supplied the hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments
and even handled the cooking and cleanup duties.
The event was scheduled from 10am to 2pm. We had the most amount of cars show
up this year with 9 member’s cars and 8 others that came in. The dealership
advertised on their own which brought in the additional cars. The next display
is being coordinated by Al for Saturday, August 28th. Please call Al if you
plan on attending. His number is… 609-298-1427. Thanks to Al and all the members
that took the time to attend this event.
On June 5, the club held the annual Drive-In Cruise to Shankweiler’s Drive In
Movie Theater in Schnecksville, PA. We met at the Rodeway Inn located in Allentown
Saturday afternoon. Members brought their choice of refreshments and munchies
to the pool. Later on in the afternoon, we ordered a few pizzas. At around 6pm,
we drove to the drive-in, picked out our row and planted our chairs. More refreshments
and munchies were set out. The movie, The Prince of Asia, started at 8:00. Check
out the photo page in this newsletter.
The next morning some of us chose to attend the East Penn All-Chevy Show at
the Schnecksville Fire Co. Thanks to John Lucas for setting up all the arrangements.
Don’t forget about the Dennery picnic on July 10. John and Dawn always do an
outstanding job with the festivities. See the flyer and map in this newsletter.
Please call John or Dawn if you need additional directions, and be sure to RSVP
so John and Dawn can do some planning. It takes just 2 minutes of your time.
Verne Frantz, in coordination with Tony Kopke has arranged for the club to attend
the Garvery Boat Races on Sunday, August 15 in Barnegat, NJ. These small rockets
all use small block Chevy’s or Ford’s for power. It must be quite the thrill
to see nothing but the prop in the water! Please see the directions in this
newsletter and don’t forget your chairs.
