Do you know the old saying two out of three aint bad? Well, that’s basically how things ended up with the amendments to the Jersey Late Greats Bi-Laws at the last meeting.
First, the membership voted YES to amend the Bi-Laws to reflect the annual dues as $30.00. Second, the membership voted YES to amend the Bi-Laws to reflect that the Jersey Late Greats is a Chapter organization of the newly formed Ekler’s Late Great Chevy Corporation. Third, the membership voted to postpone voting on expanding the club to include 1958 – 1972 Chevrolets at this time.
As part of the decision to postpone the vote, it was decided that a membership committee should be formed. Leigh Humpfreys and Mike Sutton have agreed to lead the new committee for the club. The committee will develop new ideas to promote the club and increase club membership. I believe this is something the club should do regardless of whether the club expands or not. Let’s all put our “Thinking Distributor Caps” on and see if we can come up with some shocking new ideas. (Sorry … that was pretty bad, but I just couldn’t resist). Anyway, if you have some ideas, contact Leigh or Mike, or bring it up at a meeting.
Speaking of club meetings, it’s the time of year that the club starts having our picnic meetings. Our first picnic meeting will be Satuday, June 10th at Jim and Claudia’s place in East Windsor, NJ. Jim and Claudia have hosted picnic meetings for several years, and always do a fantastic job. If you haven’t been to a meeting in awhile, this would be the perfect opportunity to get together with fellow Chevy friends for a great time. Bring you swim suite, I understand Jim has been working very hard to get the pool ready for this season.
Okay, I’m going to get on my soap box and say something that may offend some people. However, I believe it is the right time for someone to speak up. So, PLEASE call Jim and Claudia or email: Jm and let them know if you are coming to the June meeting.
We have all (myself included) been guilty of forgetting to call. Sometimes we assume they know we are coming, so we don’t call. Let’s make a change this summer and make a special effort to call our friends that have opened their homes for our summer picnic meetings. Jim and Claudia are hosting the June meeting. John and Dawn Dennery are hosting the July meeting. Leigh and Maureen Humphreys are hosting the August meeting. Dave and Michelle McClain are hosting the September meeting. Make the calls this summer, and let them know you are planning to attend.
