PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
If you haven’t already heard, the Jersey Late Greats Awards
Luncheon was held February 21 at Ventura’s Restaurant. We had a private room
so Mike Berry could setup slideshows of past Late Great events. If you weren’t
able to attend, you missed a terrific event. Dawn Dennery did an outstanding
job coordinating the event, providing bouquets for the ladies and calendars
for the guys that featured club member’s cars at Burlington Chevrolet. The food
was also great as was the El Camino cake that Jan Lucas brought. I think the
icing was LeMans blue. Talk about attention to detail, windshield wipers, antennae,
grille, etc… I wonder what Jan could do with a fullsized El.
And then there was the Dennery Gag Awards of which Joe DiNoia, Verne and Janet
Frantz, Al Bernotas, Bud Haines and myself were recipients. John’s ingenuity,
commentary and delivery are second to none. Speaking of entertainment, Steve
Calandra, once again provided terrific tunes and even sang a few songs that
he had written including ‘I Beat The Law’. Hey Steve, the bartender was getting
quite a charge watching you.
Don’t forget, if you notice something funny happening to a club member, don’t
keep it a secret. Call John when it occurs so he has ample time to plan for
that special gag award.
The Junkyard trip is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 20th and 21st.
Currently, there are 15 guys and girls going to the yard. I believe the majority
of us are traveling to the motel late Friday afternoon and meeting for dinner.
If you need a motel room, please contact Mike Berry so he can place the additional
reservations.
Also, I received word from the Park Commission regarding the date for the Multi-
Club Picnic. It’s scheduled for Saturday, May 9th, so mark your calendars. For
more information, please see the flyer that’s in this newsletter. Al “the Head
Cook” Bernotas will be at the grill. Verne will coordinate the car games. Watching
everyone test their “blind” driving skills is always good for a few laughs.
Please call or email either Maureen Humphreys or myself if you plan on attending
so that the right amount of food can be purchased.
