PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
As I write this letter the sun is beaming through my windows
as I think about the cold days that are creeping upon us. So with that thought
I would like to say.....”Get your cars out of the garage and enjoy the ride!”
(Hey, That’s John Lucas’s saying!) The leaves are now turning color down here
in South Jersey and it makes a weekend drive even more beautiful.
We held our October general meeting at the Senior Center in Bordentown. We did
get allot accomplished and some important items agreed on. We voted on September
being included as a general meeting month back in Bordentown now having 8-months
of meetings and 4 months off enabling us to prepare for the fall and winter
activities. I am looking forward to special club events like the Annual Banquet,
and by the way Dawn Dennery agreed to chair this event again this year. We also
agreed the location she had last year and time worked well with everyone. This
also is a good time for everyone to think about anything that may be funny,
stupid or even embarrassing that has happened to a club member this year. If
you have something already, please contact John Dennery now so he can get started
on the “Dennery Awards.” These awards are the highlight of the banquet. So please
mark you calendars in February for this event. Two dates were talked about and
the 21st seams to look better. (TBA)
The Multi-Club picnic at Mercer County Park is still on for this coming year.
With a couple dates in mind, Jim Brussel will take care of all arrangements
as far as the lotto goes and reserving the park for us.
We are planning to bring back the Dive-Inn Cruise maybe sometime time in June.
John Lucas has offered to put together a weekend package for us. He will look
into the new Auto Museum up in his area.
Lou also has ideas in mind, which he will be investigating.
I would like to thank Jan Lucas and her students for supplying us with the delicious
baked refreshments at the Sunday meeting in Bordentown.
If you would like to donate refreshments for one of the meetings please call
me and we can make arrangements.
On October 11th, the Thackerays’ hosted a Covered Bridge Tour in Buck’s County,
Pa. Leigh and I took our granddaughter Alexa with us. We met up with club members
Mike and Elaine, John, Jan and daughters, Lou and Gerri, Tom, Lisa and Kelly,
Ed and Sandy, Jim and Claudia and Al Bernotas. We all enjoyed the afternoon
visiting the Mercer Museum, Font Hill and the Van Sant Vintage Airport, which
was pretty neat to watch the planes and glider go out and come back in. Going
through the covered bridges were also the highlight of the tour and of course
what we do best, EAT! Great choice Jim and Karen, the food was awesome. So if
you missed this one, you missed out on an educational, relaxing and most delicious
day!
Thank You Jim and Karen for arranging the whole tour for us. A good time was
had by all that attended.
Mike Berry held the fist round of nominations at the meeting Sunday the 19th.
More information can be found inside this newsletter. Please come to the November
meeting where nominations will continue.
I would like wish everyone “HAPPY HAUNTING” and a “HAPPY THANKSGIVING”
