October 2006
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
There are
a few dates during the course of the year that a person must remember. They
include Your Wedding Anniversary, Your Spouses Birthday, Christmas, Mothers
Day, and Fall Carlisle. By the time this newsletter reaches your doorstep, 2006
Fall Carlisle will be a fond memory. It seems Fall Carlisle becomes a bigger
event each year, and I remember back in 1980 when I first started going to Carlisle
that it was big back then. It is like a reunion for car guys (and girls … for
the ladies reading this newsletter) because many of us go to Carlisle just to
go. When asked what we’re looking for, many of us say, “ I don’t know, I’m just
going to see what’s out there”. Myself included. Have you noticed that if you’re
talking with another car enthusiast they understand Carlisle, however if you’re
talking with someone who is not into cars, they think you’re NUTS. I hope everyone
who was able to go this year had a fantastic time, and if you still needed something
for your car, I hope you found what you were looking for.
A big Thank
You goes out to Dave and Michelle McClain for opening there home for the September
Picnic meeting. I could not attend the September meeting this year unfortunately,
but I understand Vice President Tom Merring ran an excellent meeting. I heard
the meeting was almost as quick as Tom’s quarter mile ET at Old Daze Drags!
Thanks again Dave & Michelle.
Jersey Late
Greats members have another couple of special dates to mark on the calendar
this year. Sunday October 29 is the Jersey Late Greats Road Rally. Tom Merring
is our Event Coordinator this year.
The status
of our Road Rally to date is as follows: The course has been laid out, Insurance
has been attained, Flyers have been printed, Flyers have been distributed to
members and mailed in the newsletters, the event is posted on our Web-Site including
a registration form that can be printed off the web-site (very kool), Adds have
been placed in Old Cars Magazine and Hemmings.
There are
a few details we need to finalize including Awards and Dash Plaques and the
Duty Roster. Tom and I have discussed the areas members will be needed to help
run the Road Rally.
Please plan
to attend a Rally Pre-Meeting (RPM) Sunday October 15th at Warren County Technical
School, RT 57. Basically we need to finalize WHO will be available to help and
WHAT each member wants to do. The RPM will also give us a chance to walk through
the Rally with everyone and make sure we all know how the Rally works so we
can have a smooth running event.
? October
15: Rally Pre-Meeting
? October
29: Road Rally.
It looks
like October will be a busy month for the Jersey Late Greats. I hope everyone
can arrange their schedules to get to as many events as they can. I am looking
forward to seeing you.
Enjoy the Ride,
JwLucas
