Well it’s official. After 25 years of operation and approximately 300 newsletters later, the Jersey Late Greats have gone electronic! This is officially the first month for the Jersey Late Greats “e” newsletter. The newsletter you are reading on your computer right now has replaced the monthly publication previously mailed using the US Postal Service.
As many of you know, the club did not have a meeting last month. August can be a very difficult month to schedule anything because of vacations. The club did however enjoy a great time at the Drive In Movie Cruise held at the Shankweiler’s Drive In Theatre. The weather was perfect and we had a pretty good turnout of Late Greats. Thank you Dawn Dennery for coordinating the snacks.
Unfortunately, we did have a minor mishap at this year’s event. One of our Members apparently forgot to set his emergency brake and … well you can see what happenedLuckily no one was seriously injured, and everyone had a really good time. Way to go Joe … You couldn’t have been run over by a nicer looking 59 !!!
Our next meeting will be held Sunday September 9th at Dave & Michelle McClain’s. The meeting will start at approximately 4:00 and has been scheduled to follow Ol’ Daze Drags at Island Drag Way. Please plan to head up to Dave & Michelle’s after the Drags or even if you don’t race, come on up anyway. This will be the last meeting prior to this year’s Road Rally, and will be the best time to finish up with all the final details for the Rally. This will not be a picnic meeting so don’t worry about bringing a covered dish.
The Jersey Late Greats 2007 Road Rally is just a little over a month away. I believe everything is just about ready to go. However, as of the writing of this newsletter we still do not have any pre-registrations. This is it guys … Now is the time to put that final effort into getting some participants registered for our Road Rally. If every Member was able to get just one team (Driver & Co-Pilot) registered, we could have a very successful event. Let’s everyone try and get a friend or two to sign up. Just one is all it takes. We will be discussing the Road Rally and the final details at the September meeting. So mark your calendars for the September 9th meeting, and remember the Road Rally is September 23.
