President’s Message

We had a great Awards Banquet on February 9th thanks to the efforts of Dawn and John Dennery. The Ramblewood Country Club in Mt. Laurel is the perfect location for us. I thought the food was good and there was plenty of it. We have videos of past club events running during the event for everyone’s amusement. Thanks to the Humphreys and Steve Calandra. Speaking of Steve, he once again came through as our very own Singing DJ. Sorry to say there were no Dennery Awards this year, just not much material to work with. The highlight of the event is always the Member of the Year award that was presented to Al Bernotas. There has been an unofficial policy that Board members are not eligible for MOY but in light of the fact that Al has been our Sergeant at Arms since forever, we decided to recognize him for all he has done and for what he will do in the future.

I received the latest copy of the Impala news the other day and I have to say it is the best one yet with an article on the 1963 Chevrolet by Verne Frantz. There is coverage of the 2018 convention in Dayton, OH and information for the convention in St. Charles, IL August 13-18. I expect there will be a caravan driving out so make plans to …. “See the USA in your Chevrolet.” If you are not yet a member of the National Impala Association I would encourage you to check them out as they are the only club specializing in full size Chevrolets from 1958 to the present and their conventions are always a good time.

The next meeting will be Sunday, March 10, 5 PM at the Bordentown Community Center. We are going to have an Automobilia and Literature display. We haven’t done this in many years and it should be interesting for the whole family. Gather up all that neat stuff you have lying around at home and bring it to the next meeting. There are plenty of tables to display your treasures and if you have things to sell, bring them too! OK, what’s Automobilia? Anything to do with automobiles, toys, postcards, sales brochures, promos, models, road maps and advertising. My personal interest has always been about old cars and old roads so I have collected books and postcards of Rt. 66 and the Lincoln Highway. Petrolinia is another part ofthis so anything to do with gas stations and oil companies fits in here as well. As far as literature, bring in your shop manuals, tech info, books, magazines advertising and anything related to the old car hobby.

Pencil in Saturday, April 13 for an event at the Eastwood Company in Pottstown, PA for a seminar on Stainless restoration and perhaps Paintless Dent Repair. This hasn’t been confirmed yet. If that doesn’t happen we’ll do a cruise to somewhere as it should be decent weather to get our old Chevys out.

Take it easy,

Mike
