September 2015
President’s Message
Well, here we are winding down the summer events. Very
very sad, as we look ahead to the fall and then Old Man Winter. All these wonderful
classic Chevy’s go underground to stay away from the bad weather that
comes with winter. I do not even like to say or write the word “WINTER”. There
has been so many acorns falling off my oak tree, I have to shovel them up. That
leads me to believe it will be a long cold winter. So get ready now while we
do have some warm weather still around. Labor Day is the time that children
go back to school. So enjoy what you can in the next few weeks.
On August 22, 2015 our club was invited to a private Drive-In Movie night. Those
of us who attended had a wonderful time. Thanks to John Lucas for setting up
this event, it was just great. It was called “GEOFF’S SKYVIEW DRIVE IN” The
flyer was in the last newsletter with all the information. WE had a fabulous
time, with a car show, 4 movies under the stars (even though we needed a blanket),
the music was a marvelous live Trio and, plus no one left hungry there was plenty
of food. There was nothing not to like about this event. All of us had a very
enjoyable time. On behave of ourJersey Late Greats, we have sent Geoff Sotak
a donation for his hospitality. We will publish photos from Geoff’s Drive In
Cruise taken by Mike Berry in next month’s newsletter. If we are invited back
I would definitely recommend you attend, I know I will.
Our next Regular monthly meeting is September 13, 2015, 5:00 PM at the Bordentown
Community Center. This is our first meeting after the summer time with no meetings,
so there will be much to discuss and plan going forward. Hope you all will try
to attend mark your calendars.
Just a reminder, in last month’s newsletter there were quite a few members that
needed to pay Verne their dues from June, July and August. I hope by now everyone
caught up with Verne. I know Verne was in the hospital at that time, but I am
glad to report that Verne is home and semi back to a normal routine doing well.
Just a little trivia I came across and I thought it was interesting, maybe you
all know this and< maybe some of you do not, so here it is
:“ACCORDING TO MOST SOURCES, ROUTE 66 IS 2,448 MILES LONG. COMMISSIONED IN 1926,
IT CROSSES EIGHT STATES AND THREE TIME ZONES”.
Last but not least, please check out the photos taken by Mike Berry during the
clubs “Shore Cruise” held Saturday June 13th. The club met at the Circus Drive-In
at about 11:30 for lunch and then headed down to the Vintage Automobile Museum
of New Jersey. We also were able to tour the New Jersey Museum of Boating which
was right next door. How convenient!
ENJOY THE WARM WEATHER
WHILE IT LASTS!!
