I have been to so many areas of New Jersey and Pennsylvania as a result of Jersey Late Great events that I never would have seen if it weren’t for this club. I’ve been up and down RT 130, criss - crossed the state on RT 46, 70, and 22 and 33. I’ve visited all sorts of historical places, Allaire Village, Smithville, Johnny’s Hot Dogs, Princeton and Carneys Point. We’ve done diner cruises, drag racing and Fall Foliage cruises. There’s even a little Mom & Pop diner in the middle of nowhere, PA that some of the guys know where we can rendezvous on a road trip going west on RT 80. That’s one of the aspects of this club that I really enjoy, getting into my old Chevy and driving the back roads of New Jersey. Well our September cruise is going to be a memorable one so get you Chevy gassed up and come on up to the Morris Canal for an event that will be fun for the whole family. Lydia Schmidt put this together for us and it will involve some history, some scenic back roads and a nice meal to cap it all off. This event has been on the calendar for several months so everyone has had plenty of time to get it into their schedule. There will be a brief meeting somewhere during the day.
Jim and Karen Thackeray have put together a great Fall Foliage and Covered Bridge Cruise for October so make sure it’s on your calendar.
John and Dawn Dennery hosted a picnic at their home in Gloucester this August. The turnout was very good with some new cars we haven’t seen before. Our own Steve Calandra played some tunes and entertained the crowd all day long. Thank you Dawn and John.
November is going to be fun with a trip out the Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, PA for their annual Swap Meet. The mall will be open as well where there will be many vintage cars on display and some of them will be for sale. There is a Holiday Inn attached to the mall if anyone wants to stay over. There will be more about that in coming newsletters.
November is also the final round of nominations for the 2020 Board. I can tell you that the office of President will be open as I will not be running again. So think about it and step up and be of service to the club. YOU could be President!
